Breaking Up The Band

I was a college DJ, back when the walls of the studio were covered in albums and you had to drop the needle into the groove of the record at just the right moment. At the end of every shift I played "Desperado" by the Eagles, a song that was popular in the late 1970’s. All these years later I’m not sure why that particular song appealed. Perhaps it was just my teenage angst showing.

Don Henley, my favorite Eagle, was the charismatic face of the group. This despite the incredible musicianship and creativity of his sidekick Glenn Frey. This magical pairing blew apart, after a simmering feud between Frey and lead guitarist Don Felder finally exploded. And just like that, the Eagles were no longer.

"Sometimes you get the best light from a burning bridge." - Don Henley
